Heat deaths to rise 60-fold by end of century

Researchers say heat-related deaths in the Middle East and North Africa will be 60 times higher by the end of the century if no climate action is taken.

Professor Elizabeth Robinson, Director at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, said new projections indicate that the UK will see a rise from three to nine heat-related deaths per 100,000 by the 2080s.

They also predict that over half of the summer days are going to be heatwave days.
