Hamas appears to have rejected an initial proposal from Egypt that would end the war with Israel, FOX News Digital reports.

The Associated Press reports via a senior Egyptian official and a European diplomat that the initial deal included a ceasefire, a phased hostage release and the creation of a Palestinian government of experts who would lead the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.

The proposal was reportedly worked out with Qatar and was presented to Israel, Hamas, the U.S. and European governments, but appeared to be fairly preliminary.
