Live from outside and inside the court in New York where a trial is scheduled to begin in the New York Attorney General’s business fraud lawsuit against former US President Donald Trump and his company, the Trump Organization.

The lawsuit claims Trump lied about the value of his assets and the size of his fortune to banks and potential business associates.

Speaking in court ahead of his appearance, Donald Trump says the lawsuit is "a continuation of the single greatest witch hunt of all time".

As cameras flashed around him, the former president lashed out at the people prosecuting him calling it a "scam" and a "sham".

He added: "There was no crime. The crime is against me because we have a corrupt district attorney, but we have a corrupt attorney general, and it all comes down from the DOJ that totally coordinated this in Washington, because I'm leading candidate.

"I'm leading Biden by ten points and I'm leading the Republicans by 50 and 60 points."
