Drivers paid higher pump prices after supermarkets increased margins

The Competition and Markets Authority has found supermarkets have been pushing up their margins on fuel prices, leading to drivers paying an extra 6p per litre at the pump.

The investigation by the CMA was launched last July, following concerns that falls in wholesale prices were not being passed on to consumers.
