Driver dies in fiery fuel tanker crash on Connecticut bridge

One person was killed and two others injured after a collision involving a fuel truck sparked a massive fire on Connecticut’s Gold Star Memorial Bridge.

Footage from the scene shows flames and billowing smoke on the bridge between Groton and New London. The damage spread to the buildings nearby as first responders struggled to contain the fire.

The driver of the tanker was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two passengers in the other car were transported to the hospital.
