Former US President Donald Trump has described a civil fraud trial against him and his company as "a scam and a sham", calling himself the victim of the "single greatest witch hunt of all time".

The trial involves allegations that Mr Trump, along with several members of his family and other associates, inflated the value of his property empire by billions of dollars to secure loans.
