President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) spoke to reporters after meeting about the debt ceiling.
President Biden said, "both agree that default is not an option." While McCarthy called the conversation, "productive."
Despite the talks, there's still no agreement in place. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says the deadline remains June 1, adding that the government would struggle to pay its bills beyond June 15 if no action is taken.
