For the Czech Republic national team, 2023 has been a dream. It began with their debut World Baseball Classic where they created a buzz, striking out Shohei Ohtani in Tokyo and defeating China to secure qualification for the 2026 WBC. The year ended with a European Championship on home soil, a massive opportunity to grow baseball in Czech Republic and play in front of an adoring home crowd.

This is the story of how a team of fire fighters, neurologists and teachers captured the hearts of baseball fans the world over. And they aren’t done yet.
