The government's former chief scientific adviser, Sir Patrick Vallance, gives evidence to the public inquiry.

Sir Patrick was vividly remembered as one of the mainstays of the COVID news conferences, alongside Professor Chris Whitty, and some of his diaries from the pandemic have already been made partially public - including the revelation that former prime minister Boris Johnson once described coronavirus as "nature's way of dealing with old people".
