Chair of the Commission on Young Lives and former Children's Commissioner for England Anne Longfield has expressed concern about the number of missing school and said: "if we don't fix this now, it's just stowing up problems for the future."

New figures just released by the government show that rates of school absences are double what they were before the pandemic.
