Fourth of July weekend was filled with violence and shootings in Chicago, IL. At least 73 people were shot over the course of the four-day weekend and 11 of them died, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Chicago has experienced a pattern of violence when the 4th of July weekend spans four days. The last time it happened was in 2019, when 68 people were shot and 5 were killed. Two years earlier, in 2017, more than 100 people were shot in one of the city's deadliest Independence Day weekends in history.
