Canada's parliament has offered an apology to the British "Home Children" - orphans and other children who sailed to the country to be used as cheap labour.

At 100-years-old, George Beardshaw is one of the last surviving children shipped overseas - although around 10% of the Canadian population is said to have descended from them.

The government has only expressed its "regret" at their mistreatment and abuse, as many such children were routinely over-worked.
