BMA 'can't guarantee' lives won't be put at risk during strikes

Dr Sumi Manirajan, deputy co-chair of the junior doctor committee at the British Medical Association was asked by Kay Burley if she can guarantee no patients will be put at risk.

"I can't guarantee that no lives will put at risk this week, but that's because lives are being put at risk every single week," she said.

Some "500 patients" are dying "needlessly" every week due to the 7.2 million people on waiting lists, the doctor said - which is exacerbated by the lack of doctors.
