The environment minister Zac Goldsmith was named as one of a group of politicians who criticised the investigation into whether Boris Johnson misled the House of Commons over partygate.

Today, he resigned and used the opportunity to hit out at the government's recent record on climate change, prompting a very public row with the Prime Minister.
