In an interview for The Sunday Telegraph, Defence Secretary Grant Shapps said he had held talks with army leaders about deploying British troops within Ukraine for the first time for a military training programme.

The UK has led the West in terms of providing military training to Ukrainian personnel, with more than 20,000 Ukrainians having completed such training to date.
