Five people were killed and two others seriously injured after a train collided with a vehicle in Plant City, Florida. Two of the dead are juveniles, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Tropical Storm Ophelia is causing coastal flooding along the eastern part of the U.S., including from North Carolina up to Virginia and as far north as New Jersey.

A government shutdown is closer to becoming a reality with no deal in place one week before the deadline.
