Northern Ireland is attempting to avert a political crisis after the shock resignation of DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson over alleged historical sexual offences.

First Minister Michelle O'Neill insists it does not pose a threat to power sharing and her priority is on "leadership" and "cohesion".
