Edinburgh: Man dies after large explosion destroys house

An 84-year-old man has died after a large explosion at a house in Edinburgh.

The blast happened at a house in Baberton Mains Avenue at about 10.25pm on Friday night and was heard from miles away.

Neighbours said they could feel their house shaking, and another person claimed they heard the blast from inside a nearby cinema.

Two other people, a 43-year-old woman and 54-year-old man, were taken to hospital for treatment.
